Projects & Committees

How We Work

We have a range of sub-committees tasked to an ongoing project/objective (e.g. Guardians of Lake Hāwea) or for a specific, one off project (e.g. Playground Development Committee). An equally large role is to identify projects that affect the Hāwea area (e.g. the Special Housing Area), then actively consult and work with governing bodies and our local community, to act as representation for the Hāwea people and area.

Therefore, our projects & sub-committees can be loosely categorised as either a:

  • HCA Committee/Project | A sub-committee operating under the HCA, for a particular project or objective (often ongoing).

  • Consultation Project | A local project or development in which HCA are undertaking a consulting/representation role between the community and governing bodies or developers. The project may be at a monitoring, or active involvement stage.

See our Community Surveys page to see a selection of QLDC and HCA community consultation surveys relevant to Hāwea.
