The HCA is a volunteer run society, with a key team of driven people working tirelessly behind the scenes. You can help by becoming a Member of the HCA.


What is a Member?

Our Members value and believe in the work we do for our Hāwea community, paying an annual subscription of $20 per family or household. These subscriptions are very gratefully received and are 100% invested back into the community to help with projects and causes, e.g:

  • Supplying tools and gear to our lakefront maintenance teams;

  • Providing to smaller local community groups and initiatives e.g. sports clubs and school groups;

  • Printing and distribution costs for community consultation surveys;

  • Costs related to the running of this website (the domain, the platform, apps etc.);

  • Funding professional consultants for important submissions to governing bodies.

Only members have voting rights at our meetings. Our constitution does allow people to become members without paying the annual subscription, but this is at the discretion of the committee. If you would like to pursue this option, please let us know by email.

Membership

Thank you for choosing to be a Member of the HCA. We’ve tried to make this process as quick and easy as possible, with two payment options - either via our safe and secure credit/debit card option or via bank transfer. Please click your preferred payment option below to sign up as a new member or to renew your membership subscription.

Important: All subscriptions are processed as one-off payments. We remind all members to renew their subscriptions from 1st August each year, but we will not automatically debit your account/card, nor do we save your payment details.

Please note: We recently attempted to change the terminology relating to membership and subscriptions to enable people to pay an amount of their choice as they renewed or joined as members. After receiving negative feedback, we have gone back to keeping membership subscriptions and donations separate. If you recently renewed your membership and chose to pay a value higher than $20, then $20 of the value you paid is considered your membership subscription and the remainder as a donation. Please let us know if you have any issues.

 Additional Donations

Some of our community choose to make further donations toward the work we do. When you make a donation you are able to choose a specific project you would like your donation to go toward, or you can leave the donation ‘untagged’.

Note: Our committee members voluntarily donate their time and energy. This website, including the Directory and Events Calendar is maintained by our volunteer communications team and is testament to our commitment to support local businesses and organisations.
