Foreshore Working ‘Thursday’ Group - June Report

Tena Koutou Katoa

An audit of recent (2020-2021) plantings has revealed some losses. Considering the harsh conditions, even though the areas have been irrigated, it is perhaps not surprising. Fine weather and a good turnout of team members has enabled us to finally plant, protect and irrigate the banks below the pump house with 75 dryland shrubs. The funding came from a generous grant from the 2020 Lake Hawea Family Fishing Classic. After a tidy up of Scotts Beach, we are now ready to move to the area below Flora Dora Parade where we will weed and will carry out further planting.

Further grant money will be used this season.

We have now moved to winter hours – 9.30-12.30, but expect some cancelled sessions due to cold or wet.

Total hours = 103 + 8 for irrigation.

Gaye Robertson
